Linda Viikant
My love for arts and ceramics started in the early age. While working with many different mediums over the years, I set my main focus on ceramics. In creating I focus drawing inspiration from nature, landscapes and the material itself. Throughout the process I test clays limits and boundaries and discover for myself new ways to create the desired textures and forms, that resemble raw earthy looks. As clay comes from earth and lets itself be formed into almost anything that the maker desires I have found my interest in researching the ways to keep the rawness of clay in my pieces. It is a constant game of contrasts and extremes between rough and smooth forms.
My products are mainly practical tableware, but I also love making large sculptural forms and instruments.
On the side of my main work I am actively involved in music. This lead me to musical instrument making and researching new designs for sounding clay bodies.
